Sidewalks Vaults
Like any other structural element, sidewalk and their sub-surface vaults get damaged from long term exposure to water and salts. The concrete, internal rebar, as well as its underlying steel supports need to be inspected on a regular basis and repaired as needed.
Salamon Engineering uses the appropriate tools to discover the condition of the sidewalk vaults. Having experience and knowledge in technological engineering tools such as GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) helps our Engineers discover the integrity of the concrete and the ground beneath it.
Since the sidewalk is an area of public usage, there are strict code requirements and enforcements for its replacement. The vault area has to be able to carry not only pedestrian traffic but also the weight of a garbage truck full of debris.
Salamon Engineering can provide the design of plans, filing of reports with D.O.T., M.T.A. and Building Department, as well as construction management for the repair or replacement of sidewalks and their structural vaults. |
