RPZ-Back Flow Preventer
Per DEP requirement all water supply need to be protected from back flow contamination into the city main water supply. This potential back flow contamination from the building’s interior can contain - boiler chemical feed, sewage cleaning wastes, hazardous materials, wastes from medical offices etc.
To prevent such potential contamination a backflow preventor consisting of a RPZ (Reduced Pressure Zone device) needs to be installed on the incoming water supply.
To comply with DEP regulations a plan detailing the proposed installation of the RPZ needs to be submitted for DEP approval. This plan must show the location of the water supply piping, the location and type of RPZ proposed, as well as proof that the installation meets all the parameters i.e. clearances, drainage requirements; of DEP regulations.Salamon Engineering
All commercial buildings as well as buildings containing specific contaminants, i.e. Medical offices, Laundromats, must file with the DEP and install the necessary device(s). |
