Handicap Requirements:

All areas of newly designed or newly constructed buildings and facilities and altered portions of existing buildings and facilities shall comply with the New York City Code as dictated by the ADA. Every category of architectural and structural design must consider the handicap code and comply with the applicable requirements. Some of the structural sections affected by the handicap requirements include: parking lots, means of egress, ramps and stairs, bathrooms, signage, elevators, areas of assembly, etc.
